UK Happiness and Wellbeing Statistics – August 2019 Update

There has been a slight improvement in overall happiness and wellbeing, with the specific environmental data revealing that our environmental security continues to face sustained pressure.

  • Water security has been negatively impacted this year and this is most likely linked to another record-breaking hot summer.

  • The number of days with ‘low’ air pollution have increased by 2.75% in the last 12 months across the UK compared to data collected in April 2019, demonstrating the importance of reducing high GHG emitting activities.

  • A positive environmental gain can be seen within shelter security, as tonnes of carbon emissions per capita has fallen from 5.4 in to 5.3 but there still significant progress to be made meet the targets of the Climate Change Act 2008.
