How SHIFT helps social landlords contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals

SHIFT, the sustainability standard for housing and the supply chain, works with social landlords that are dedicated to creating a sustainable future, delivering high quality homes and improving the wellbeing of both residents and employees.

Recently, many clients have asked how SHIFT addresses the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) when assessing the sustainability of their organisations. Part of the reason for these requests is that investors are beginning to look at an organisation’s sustainability before financing them.

The SDG’s were formalised in 2015 and SHIFT has been going since 2008, so it is interesting to see how SHIFT maps onto SDGs.  We have created this guide to cover each of the SDGs and how SHIFT helps organisations contribute towards them.

The SDGs are outlined below and they address the globally challenges we currently face and are the basis to achieving a more sustainable future.

We have broken down each goal and covered ways in which SHIFT aligns with them. It is important to note that SHIFT has science based, long term environmental targets which are most relevant for social landlords.

If you would like to know more about how SHIFT can demonstrate that your organisation is contributing towards SDG’s please get in touch on [email protected] or 07718 647117
